We have had a lot of comments, emails, and tweets come our way due to the comparison of macOS and Windows OS, but get this from us.
People using one type of operating system are just not aware of what the other type of operating system has to offer, and some of them may want to have an idea as well.
To be honest with you guys, like others not less than 70 percent of the desktop and laptop world, I am natively a Windows user.
It does not mean that I hate using Mac, no I have had a lot of experience on Macs as well. I am not a Mac or Apple hater in any way.
In our guide today, we are going to take you through the standard operating system features, doing a comparison between Microsoft and Apple’s offerings all the way.
In each argument, we will have a winner. Even though your choice involves more than just features, hardware and software support, and capabilities.

Setup and Experience
All of the two operating systems offer easy setup instructions and processes. You can use both without signing in to an account with Apple or Microsoft, but you will get a rich experience if you do.
Not signing in for a while makes you lose syncing machines, app roaming, messages, voice assistants, and other good things that you can think of.
In Microsoft Windows, you can install the operating system using your voice through a voice recognition software known as Cortana.
Apple installs updates through the system preferences instead of in the Mac App Store.
Each of the two operating systems can automatically recognize and install drivers for standard hardware peripherals e.g. keyboard, mouse, and storage.
So as far as setup experience is concerned, both of them do the same things. Therefore, they are equal.
Logging in and Getting started
Both operating systems offer login options. In Macs, you can easily log in to your machine by using just a finger if you have a MacBook Pro that has a touch bar.
The other way is through your iPhone or Apple watch, this is only possible if they are close to the computer.
Windows 10 offers different login options, you can use biometric login options, face recognition, and use of fingerprints, especially on the HP Spectre 13 laptop.
Windows also accept log in using a pin if all your laptop does not have the feature compatible with the above.
Once you have booted the operating system, Windows has the button start and menu to access your frequently used applications, settings, and documents.
In macOS, there is nothing like that, you can pin frequently used applications to your Dock, head to the Application folder, or create shortcuts on your desktop to the most used applications and files.
In this case, windows 10 takes the lead.
Hardware choices
Apple offers good computer hardware options with beautiful designs, 5K screens on iMacs, etc. The issue here is the price.
Even though Mac has good things, they are very high, starting from around $5,000 for the best options.
When it comes to internal components, things such as CPU, graphics card, and storage there is no competition.
Windows operating machine gives you a lot more than you can expect and still you can be able to upgrade in the future.
So in this section of Hardware choices, windows take the lead again.
Included apps
Both operating systems come with lots of utilities and applications. You get things like calendars, calculators, media players, photo viewers, web browsers, cameras, voice recorders, etc.
Windows 10, comes with sticky notes, skype, a translator, and Xbox gaming applications.
For Mac operating system machine, on the other hand, comes along with a superior video editor, a preview utility, and must streaming service.
Mac operating system takes the lead in this case.
Software compatibility with the third party
Each of the two has had time in developing rich ecosystems of software and services. Custom business applications are more likely to be supported on Windows, and macOS is prevalent in creative fields such as programming.
Both of the operating systems have app stores that manage the installation and updating, this should have been the case like in mobile where applications are available in one area which is the App Store or Google Play store.
Both the two are equal as far as software compatibility is concerned.
Voice Artificial intelligence helpers
Microsoft Windows 10 comes along with a voice recognition Cortana almost a year before Apple introduced their own ie Siri.
In both cases, each voice recognition can open applications and web pages, do arithmetics, tell you what time it is, send emails, search a web page, etc.
Both Cortana and Siri can be invoked using voice. Cortana voice recognition can easily log out or shut down your computer which is not the case with Siri voice helper.
In my case, for example, as a Windows user, when I am tired of typing and I feel like I do not want to touch my laptop anymore, I just command Cortana to shut it down as I walk away.
Gaming
When it comes to gaming, windows 10 comes along with Graphics cards that support computer for gaming. This is not the case in MacOs as it does not allow customization of internal components.
Many games are built into a windows machine and mostly are supported with features that are available in windows.
The only way you can play such kinds of games is by installing a windows operating system on your mac and then having its full features.
So in the gaming industry, Windows is the best option.

As we have seen above, you will be able to choose an operating system depending on your needs. macOS is best on its own while windows are better on its own as well.
